The Future of Mobile Advertising By Nicolas Moore

The Future of Mobile Advertising

By  Nicolas Moore

Interstate highways are traveled upon by many Americans everyday, visiting loved ones and sightseeing on new adventures.

In fact, the I-405 has over 374,000 vehicles driving on it per day, making it the most traveled interstate highway in the United States. There are infinite amounts of consumer advertising exposure opportunities on the road, making Mobile Hwy Advertising a great marketing strategy with huge potential to grow. Highway advertising can be a low-risk method for companies to advertise and market products and services, optimizing exposure and breaking new ground.

The COVID-19 pandemic forced online shopping to gain increasing popularity, expediting the transportation of products dramatically. Semi-trucks have been heavily utilized since people want their products fast and hassle-free. Since online shopping continues to create a large impact on consumers and has no foreseeable end in sight, it would be beneficial to use semi-trucks as an advertising platform.

Wind skirts and RAM technology are a fresh way to advertise using trucks. Wind Skirts are made of material that can be placed on the undersides of trailers, which assist with fuel economy. RAM technology uses beacons that transmit a signal to smart phones and devices, creating another way to notify consumers of marketing material during travel.

Wind skirts are fully customizable, retaining the ability to be used for marketing or for personalization. Trucking companies can market anything by simply customizing a design on their trucks. Some companies already use their trucks and trailers to advertise, drawing more consumer attention to the already-branded trucks.

Wind skirts not only create a new surface to advertise, but also provide better fuel economy for semi-trucks. Wind skirts provide better aerodynamics and wind deflection for large trucks, which help them use less power when driving in windy conditions. With less power required, the trucks inevitably burn less fuel. Wind skirts save truck drivers approximately 5% annually in fuel costs. Consider how much fuel semi- trucks consume on a daily basis. According to American Transportation Research Institute, shipping companies spend about 24% of their truck budgets on fueling alone. Based upon that statistic, trucking companies could save an estimated $4,600 per year in fuel for every truck.

Mobile Hwy Advertising is proud to make wind skirts a part of its green initiative. Marc Joseph, The Chief Operating Officer of Mobile Hwy Advertising, explained how wind skirts produce eco-friendly benefits.

“Trailer skirts help address aerodynamic drag because these skirts serve to extend the trailer side walls much closer to the ground, which prevents wind from ducking in under the trailer,” Joseph said. “This creation of less drag on a trailer helps save 5% in fuel savings. Over time, this green initiative is great, not only for the trucking industry, but for the environment.”

The green initiative that these wind skirts promote can help companies with sustainability in fueling and in promoting conservation efforts.

By achieving better fuel mileage, the trucks will not burn as much diesel, therefore, contributing less to overall pollution. This would help the trucking industry reach modern standards, as a way to cut down on CO2 emissions, prospering alongside the Environmental Protection Agency.

Wind skirts are just one form of highway advertising that could be used on semi-trucks. Rapid Advance Multimedia (RAM) technology is a new way to revolutionize marketing in the trucking industry. It sends out a signal that interacts with cell-phones and other smart devices to notify consumers with anything from advertisements to weather alerts. Installing these RAM devices on semi-trucks, a moving marketing hotspot, provides a unique opportunity. Any time a cell phone is within 1,000 feet of the device, that phone would be notified (provided consumer preferences on text messages are permitted), creating opportunities for marketing or a promotional offer. These could be used for promoting truck stops and restaurants that are coming within close proximity of a specified mileage. This is a new, innovative form of advertising that trucking companies have not explored to fully and remains relatively untapped.

With wind skirts and RAM technology, the future of Mobile HWY Advertising is promising.
